Uh-oh Super Bowl week

January 30, 2006 By: Mark Category: Can't be categorized

Here it comes, the Super Bowl to Detroit. Funny how the city gets all cleaned up in the areas of the game and the rest still goes to hell. The freeways were updated over the summer and fall for the traffic probably so everyone can get out of the city fast enough to hotels out of the city.

Hip replacement update

January 25, 2006 By: Mark Category: Can't be categorized

Saw the surgeon today for my 2 month check-up. He took another x-ray and evaluated my walk and muscle strength.
I have two things going for me here with the Dr., My girlfriend Sandy is a 2nd year resident who will be doing a rotation with him, and he used to be interested in engineering prior to going to med school.
With that background, he’s more than accomodating when it comes to discussing the technical details of my x-rays and recovery. I have a little calcification building up in the outside muscle of my leg, and then we talked engineering statics regarding my body mass, the moment about the hip joint and the amount of load that muscle must create to balance my body.

Translation: Not back to work, come back in another month for x-ray and evaluation. Keep up physical therapy 3 times a week.

I’m kind of getting pissed that I can’t move around as fast as I’d like to and that I need minimal use of a cane to walk straight. Without it, I walk like the fucking hunchback wobbling around.

What’s the deal with young teens today…

January 25, 2006 By: Mark Category: Can't be categorized

You read in the news and online about teens having sex earlier in life now and never thought I’d have to deal with it. Now I do.
What a bitch! The emotions and thoughts are enough to exhaust you.
If you have young kids, pay attention to their lifestyle and what they do. It’s not like it was when you were a kid so you can’t fall back on much of that experience.

Yeah!! New water heater.

January 15, 2006 By: Mark Category: Can't be categorized

Yesterday the landlord had the plumber stop by at 8AM as promised to install the water heater. The whole thing took about an hour which I thought was pretty good considering the plumber had to cut the pipes because the new water heater was about a foot taller than the old one. I asked the landlord if he could install a 50 gallon instead of the current 40 gallon, which he did!
We now have nice hot water.

Ohhhh Friday the 13th

January 13, 2006 By: Mark Category: Can't be categorized

First thing this morning, no hot water. Luckily nobody needed to take a shower. I went downstairs and the water heater was leaking on the floor. Had about a 1/4″ of water on the floor.
The trusty 5HP Sears vac sucks up water quite well. Since it was doing water work, I cleaned the other side of the basement floor too and sucked it up.
Spent most of the day coordinating delivery and installl with our landlord.

Plumber was about at hour away at 6PM so we agreed to have him come out tomorrow at 8AM to do the whole job.
