Sandy’s birthday

November 23, 2008 By: Mark Category: Can't be categorized

Sandy’s birthday is today.

The girls and I went out shopping for a few gifts then I came home and took her to Flemings’s Steak House and Wine Bar.
The meal was great. We each had the sirloin special, glass of wine. She had the lobster bisque.

When we got home, the girls had candles lit on the cake ready to go. She opened her gifts, a potpourri package from Yankee Candle with a nice glass bowl to put it in and, some flannel pajamas with polar bears on them.

I’m so stuffed from dinner.

Automakers are in deep shit

The automakers are going to Washington, hat in hand, to ask for bailout money.

Things are getting bad. Everyone at work received a package of some kind, either to take a buy out, early retirement, or regular retirement. There’s numbers like 3500 people will have to be let go. If there aren’t enough taking the packages by the end of November 2008, layoffs will start during the month of December.

The big question will be what will happen to those who are left? How will all the work be done?
I can imagine that those left will be required to do whatever is needed. That means longer work days and working from home, all without any extra pay. The statement can be made that if you don’t like it, there are hundreds lined up outside that are more than willing to work those hours.

Get used to it, because it’s going to be a very tough 2009.
